"Live every moment, Laugh everyday, and Love beyond words"- Anonymous
This picture for me defines peace. It defines elegance and style but in a calm way. It was taken in the fall at the beautiful Kenneth Han Park in the Japanese Gardens. Galations 5:22 says "But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness." Let's do all of these things, be good to one another and most importantly find peace in all that you pursue. Namaste.
This shot is natural joy. The joy I feel when I see my mom or grandmother. The joy I feel when I do yoga and feel my body organs and breathe. Joy, unspeakable Joy. I thank God for these moments knowing that God always provides and my needs are met, even in the most challenging times. Remember Romans 15:13 "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Find Joy in the little things and enjoy this journey called life that God has prepared for you.
Michelle Obama, our recent and forever First Lady of the U.S. inspires me to live with strength, ability, and poise. She is a fighter and has fought for the well being and health of the entire nation these past 8 years. A special quote from her that I hope inspires you is: "One of the lessons that I grew up with was to always stay true to yourself and never let what somebody else says distract you from your goals."
Dr. Cornel West
Dr. Cornel West, the author, professor, scholar, and theologian is a phenomenal human being. I've read his books Race Matters and his autobiography, Living and Loving Outloud. A social justice advocate and activist, he is the epitome of selflessness. One of my favorite quotes by him is as follows: "Never forget that justice is what love looks like in public.
Erykah Badu is among my top 3 favorite artists and influences. This beautiful woman is a singer-songwriter, record producer, doula, activist and actress. Her spirit of love, healing, and truthfulness rings close to my heart. In her words, "Beauty looks like encouragement, patience, acceptance, forgiveness, carefulness, and compassion. Beauty is spiritual and physical."
