About Marguerite
🌿 Hi, I’m Marguerite,
I earned my Masters in Social Work from the University of Michigan and have over 5 years of experience providing therapy to children, families, and adults. I’m a holistic, DBT, Somatic, and Trauma-informed licensed therapist based in Los Angeles. I support individuals navigating anxiety, life transitions, identity exploration, relationship challenges, trauma, and experiencing big emotions in feeling more grounded, connected, and aligned.
What is your approach to therapy?
My approach is compassionate, affirming, and collaborative. I integrate DBT skills, somatic therapy, mindfulness, and emotional regulation tools to help you reconnect with your body, build self-trust, joy and navigate stress and relationships more effectively. I do not shy away from conversations surrounding identity, culture, systemic stressors, and societal issues when relevant to a client’s healing process.
How do culture and lived experiences shape your work?
As a bilingual English and Spanish speaking therapist who identifies as Black, Afro-Latina and Afro-Caribbean, I honor the ways culture, identity, and life experiences shape emotional well-being. Together, we create a space for meaningful healing, growth, and lasting change. Born and raised in South Los Angeles and having lived in Guatemala, Spain, Costa Rica, Massachusetts, and Michigan, I bring a culturally grounded and anti-oppressive lens into my work while creating a warm and affirming space for healing and growth.
What can I expect in therapy sessions?
I often begin sessions with grounding and mindfulness practices to help clients feel present, connected, and supported. Together, we identify underlying concerns, shift unhelpful patterns, strengthen emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness skills, and build greater self-compassion and resilience. I also offer homework exercises and practical tools clients can use between sessions to support meaningful progress outside of therapy.
What can I expect during our first session together?
In our first session together, we’ll begin by getting to know each other and exploring what’s bringing you in. From there, we’ll identify barriers to change and begin creating goals that align with the life you want to build. My goal is to help you feel emotionally safe, supported, empowered, and understood throughout the therapeutic process.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I love working with adults navigating anxiety, trauma, identity exploration, mood challenges, relationship stress, and major life transitions. My clients are often ready to better understand root causes and triggers, strengthen boundaries and self-esteem, reconnect with their bodies, and create healthier ways of coping and relating to themselves and others. Together, we work toward creating greater ease, alignment, and joy.
What do you enjoy outside of therapy?
Outside of therapy, I’m also a professional singer currently forming a band this year. When I’m not with clients, you can usually find me on a mindful walk, dancing, spending time with friends, attending community events, walking my dog, traveling, or listening to the latest R&B and Hip Hop hits.
Why work with Marguerite?
Everyone encounters challenges, and you do not have to navigate them alone. I’m here to meet you where you are and walk alongside you as you move toward healing, emotional clarity, connection, and joy. It would be an honor to explore working together.
